Response Times
- General enquiries: I aim to reply within 3–5 working days.
- Reported errors in a guide or the calculator: reviewed within 5 working days, and usually sooner in the run-up to the 31 January Self Assessment deadline.
- Privacy and data requests: answered within one month, as UK GDPR requires.
Driver-Tax.co.uk is run by one person who also drives for a living, so replies are sent outside driving hours. Thank you for your patience.
Corrections & Editorial Policy
Accuracy matters more than anything else on this site. Tax guidance that is wrong can cost drivers real money, so every report of an error is taken seriously.
- Tell me what's wrong. Email hello@driver-tax.co.uk with the page address, the statement you think is incorrect and, if possible, a link to the GOV.UK or HMRC page that supports the correction.
- I check it against official sources. Each report is checked against current GOV.UK and HMRC guidance, and any affected worked examples are recalculated.
- Confirmed errors are fixed promptly. The page is corrected and its "Updated" date changes. Where a correction changes a figure or conclusion a reader may have relied on, the guide says what changed.
- Every guide is reviewed regularly. Guides are revisited after each Budget and at the start of each tax year (6 April), and each one lists the official sources it was checked against.
You can read more about how the guides are researched on the About page.
What I Can and Can't Help With
I'm happy to answer general questions about how the calculator works or what a guide means. I'm a driver who handles his own tax, not a chartered accountant or regulated tax adviser, so I can't review your personal tax return or tell you what to put on it.
For advice about your own situation, contact HMRC through the official GOV.UK contact page, or speak to a qualified accountant or tax adviser.
⚠ Never Email Sensitive Details
Please don't send your UTR, National Insurance number, bank details or copies of tax returns. They aren't needed to answer your question. Driver-Tax.co.uk is not affiliated with HMRC, and HMRC will never contact you through this website.
